Our Family

I was four years old when I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior. My parents were Christians and I had been in church my entire life (of four years). I told my mom that I knew that I was a sinner and that I wanted to ask Jesus to come into my heart.

At a Missions Conference at Messiah Baptist Church, God called me to the mission field at the age of seven. He used the slides from a single missionary lady from Mexico. I forgot her name long ago, but the call that God placed in my heart has been my focus ever since. I have spent my entire life preparing for this calling through many missions trips, as well as serving in my local church. I have always had a heart for Latin American people as well as a partiality to the Spanish language.

God answered my prayers for a Missionary to be my wife when I met Shelley. She was going to the mission field, whether or not she had a husband to go with. The equal passion we share for missions, specifically rural unreached areas, is what brought us together.

God blessed me with two Christian parents. The greatest gift that they gave me was their consistent example of faithfulness in serving the Lord. When I was about four years old, I was alone one day and realized that I had never asked Jesus Christ to save me. So I stopped what I was doing right then and prayed and asked Jesus to be my Savior.

I really cannot remember a time in my life when I did not want to be a missionary. The summer before my senior year in high school I was trying to choose a college. I wanted to go to a Bible college and train for missions, but first I wanted to make sure that missions was truly God‘s will and not simply my own. So I prayed and asked God to give me a peace about it. During that time I was reading through the book of Nehemiah. In that book Nehemiah describes his desire to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem as something that the Lord had put in his heart to do. Nehemiah was passionate about this task; I understood this exactly. I wanted to be a missionary and I truly believe that God placed that desire in my heart. Now I was convinced that God would bless because it was our endeavor, not just my own.

I am so thankful that God gave me Jimmy, my best friend. We share the same goal. I enjoy serving the Lord with him every day!

In 2009 God blessed our family with twin boys! We praise God for allowing us to be parents. They are such a blessing to our ministry here and add to every moment of our lives.
